The following instructions to follow are very important for you right after the transplant surgery in order to ensure the best quality of the procedure:
Do not touch the recipient area.
Visit the clinic 24 hours after the procedure for the first wash and continue washing as recommended, using the provided kit.
Take and/or apply the prescribed medication.
Avoid taking aspirin or alcohol for 3 days.
No physical exertion or sports in the first week, contact sports only after 15 days.
Do not tilt your head forward for the first 3 days.
Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks. The sun does not harm the grafts, but it can cause pigmentation changes in the recently traumatized scalp skin.
No saunas for 1 month.
Sleep with your head elevated, preferably supported in the donor area, for the first 2 days.
You may receive medication that can cause drowsiness. It is advised not to drive any vehicle on the way back home.
Avoid chlorinated pools for 2 weeks. You can swim in the sea after 7 days, protecting yourself from the sun with a cap.
Inform the doctor immediately in case of bleeding, excessive itching, or exaggerated swelling of the forehead or eyelids.
If possible, refrain from smoking.
Continuously hydrate the graft as instructed until the scabs fall off.
If you undergo the FUT (Strip) method, the stitches will be removed at the doctor’s recommended time, generally within 2 weeks.
A hair transplant will last forever but does not stop the existing hair loss process. Treatment with Minoxidil and Finasteride will be important after the transplant to maintain long-term aesthetic results. Finasteride should be taken continuously, and Minoxidil, which was suspended before surgery, will be applied after scab removal.
The recipient area should be taken care of carefully, especially in the first 10 days, avoiding vigorous rubbing or brushing to prevent dislodging the grafts.
Some instructions may vary from patient to patient, depending on the progress of the surgery or the type of technique used. The customization of post-operative recommendations will be provided by Dr. Couto for each case.
